Santa Charity Paddle - Sunday 27th December 2020
A fun paddle and informal racing to blow away the seasonal calories !
Costumes are not compulsory but highly recommended.

Arrival, rig, prepare, drink coffee Free paddle / warmup on the northern half of the lake Santa Super Sprints! Alternative for those with a more competitive edge! 3 sprint races, 2 classes: 1. Unlimited: race boards, hardboards, iSUPs, anything goes 2. Fun: iSUP / general purpose boards, no raceboards, no 6 packs! Each race c 10 min, fixed start-line to #3, #4, fixed finish-line. The first RLSC Santa SUP parade! The main event! Mass start at the club, paddle the full lake towards the dam, then returning with a lap of the northern half of the lake. c 3 mile loop with the option of stopping after the dam/southern half c 1 mile. 4 safety boats: Lead, tail, and 2 mid fleet. Off the water Complementary mulled wine and mince pies. |
RLSC:
- Entry fee, £5 per board with a maximum of 50 boards.
- Free carparking.
- All surplus will be donated to the Rudyard Lake Trust.
Covid considerations:
- It’s obviously impossible to predict the requirements in place at the time of the event, RLSC is an RYA affiliated club and will fully comply with all Covid guidelines.
- All entrants must use the Covid mobile app and scan the club code.
- It is unlikely that the changing rooms or showers will be open so all entrants will have to change in their cars….. Hot showers next year!
- It is unlikely that the club inside catering will be operating. A mobile coffee bar / catering concession will be on site for your Cappuccino or posh hot chocolate!
- No entries on the day, pre entry and pre-payment only.
- No briefing or prizegiving on the day, a video briefing will be recorded and posted online, prizes will be ‘announced’ in the carpark.
Safety:
- It will be cold and damp, possibly frosty.
- Safety boats will be on the water, but you are responsible for your own safety
- All paddlers must: Wear a PFD, board leash, suitable winter paddling clothing (full wetsuit / dry suit / SUP suit), carry a whistle, carry min 3M of light rope / string tied to the front of their board.
- All paddlers must have 3rd party insurance.
How to book
- Registration now open to club members.
- Registration to general public from 1st November 2020.
- Booking fee is none refundable unless the event is cancelled by RLSC.
- If you are coming as a single paddlers, register using the REGISTER (INDIVIDUAL).
- If you are coming as a group of paddlers, register using the REGISTER (GROUP).
- Due to limited car parking can you add the numbers of cars you are bringing in the comments box
