Our club is growing fast thanks to fabulous facilities, a fun friendly atmosphere and an extensive training programme for all ages from 6 upwards. We run regular social events, a Saturday Youth Section (Jybaz) Sunday and Wednesday evening Racing, and a novice adult section which starts with a formal training course and then regular support as you learn to sail.
Sailing is an easy and low cost hobby. We run a wide range of sailing courses, and we have a range of modern sailing dinghies available for hire to members.
We run a number of regular organised events, meeting most Wednesdays and weekends in the sailing season. On-the-water organised sessions always have safety boat cover.
Please see the upcoming events list on this page, or view the Events Calendar for the planned activities this year.
In addition to the organised events, members are welcome to sail at any time but at their own risk. Unless you arrange it, there will not be safety boat cover for these sessions, however, so we ask all members to sail within their own limitations and recommend use of head protection (such as a SafaSail cap with side padding or similar) and a mast-head float to make it easier to right a capsized boat.
Stand-up Paddleboarding (SUP) and Windsurfing
The club has recently introduced memberships for other watersports including stand-up paddleboards and windsurfing. There is a reduced fee for these memberships and members are allowed to lauch SUPs and windsurfers at any time. The only restriction is that we do ask non-sailing members to respect other members during race and training sessions.
We are planning to assess demand and potentially introduce instruction for non-sailing activities post COVID-19.
Canoes & Kayaks
Unfortunately, at this time we are not allowed to launch canoes and kayaks from the club. If you are interested in canoeing or kayaking on Lake Rudyard, please find more information here: https://www.rudyardlake.com/canoeing/#.
