I’ve just looked at the long range forecast and it’s getting better, with warmth and sunshine on the way at last. We have lots happening over the next couple of months so here is a summary.

Members return to the water day – Monday 31st May Bank Holiday from 10.30am.

Great opportunity for everyone to get back on the water, whether you are a new member, experienced sailor, or want to try something different such as stand up paddle boarding, sailing or a power boat taster. The new galley will be open, so come and try the food, cakes and coffee and use your members discount!

Summer Racing

From the start of June, we move to our summer format where Jybaz, Novice sailors and experienced racers all get to meet each other. We alternate between two formats, which will include this year some extra racing for novices and juniors.

Jybaz Sundays – 6th and 20th June, 4th and 18th July.

Jybaz in the morning, followed by three races  (for all, not just Jybaz) at 1.30 (Folkes), 3pm and 4.15pm. This year we will include a junior/novice series of races in the first race after lunch, where the less experience will do a shortened one lap course.

Social Sundays – 13th and 27th June and 11th July

In the morning an opportunity for less experienced sailors to practice, and we will run two short races as part of the junior/novice series at 11.30 and 12.00. Followed by three races for everyone after lunch 1.30 (Folkes), 3pm and 4.15pm.

Adult RYA Sailing Training course 12th and 19th June

Other things happening

The Jybaz are entering a team for the 12 hour Junior GP14 race at Leigh and Lowton sailing club on 29th June please wish them good luck

SUP Fridays every Friday from 5pm. Ian will be opening the Galley to see if it is viable, hopefully with better weather coming this will be well supported. The club has purchased 6 new paddleboards to encourage this newer part of the club, fantastic to see such a vibrant community and we know they will be well used and cared for.

Social sailing every Wednesday from 4pm followed by 7.30 pursuit race.

The club will be closed for weddings on 26th June and 10th July. Access to the club is not permitted on these days. The day before the carpark and water will be available but not the club house. Weddings are an important source of income for the club so we appreciate your cooperation on this.

Abersoch week is from Saturday 24th July. For those not going we usually organise informal racing/sailing and this year would be great if all the sailors and paddle boarders take advantage of a quieter Sunday  on 25th July – perhaps we could manage a dingy v paddleboard race! Not sure how we will format that, but we can work it out on the day - maybe a relay race, a lap on a board and a lap in a boat! Any suggestions. By the way, if you don’t know what Abersoch is, then please ask.

We hope you have a fantastic summer sailing/paddle boarding and look forward to seeing you down soon.
